HOTEL IBEROSTAR TUCAN

As I mentioned in my introduction our hotel was very good and I was particularly impressed with the quality of the planting. Whilst a good deal of the original jungle had been maintained the formal landsacping was also exceptional. Here's a few more shots of the hotel and beach.

Panorama from our balcony - a bit like looking down from the walkway in the Kew Gardens Tropical House

.........and the beach was typically Caribbean. You can just see Cozumel Island in the distance

More very fine planting.

Believe it or not this is part of the hotel gardens. It is the original jungle with only some management.

Thrinax Radiata

Base of Sabal Yappa and Acrostichum Danaefolium the 'Giant Leather Fern'. This fern was growing wild in marginal areas, especially around the Coba Mayan Ruins

A magnificent Pritchardia Pacifica

Cocos Nucifera and huge stands of Dypsis Lutescens

Elegant walkways

Another view from balcony

Roystonea Regia in hotel grounds

A short walk from the hotel the beach was totally deserted

There are loads of Iguanas and lizards. These two were posing on a rock on the beach.

Macro shot of Iguana.
