XEL-HA AND TURTLE BAY

We also visited Xel Ha which is a natural inlet about 20 miles south of Playa Del Carmen. The inlet has been made into a sort of theme park with safe snorkelling, lazy rivers and nice walks. It was a bit too touristy for me but the family enjoyed it.

View from a seating area overlooking the main inlet

There were a few cenotes on the walks and this one, paradise cenote, was the prettiest. No swimming allowed though.

The paths through the jungle were also very pretty......

....and I liked the light on this Sabal Yappa

We then travelled a little further south to Turtle Bay

Typical Carribean beach near Turtle Bay..........

.......with colourful fishing boats

No camera when snorkelling with turtles, this was taken by a guide. You are guaranteed to see them at this time of year.

Turtle at sea - this photo was actually taken on our whale shark trip - see later
