YUCATAN - MEXICO          JULY 2010

A brief travelogue  by Steve Pearson

I visited the Yucatan Peninsula in July 2010 with my wife and family. This is a brief tour of our vacation.  I hope you enjoy it.

We were based in Playacar an upmarket hotel and residential area on the outskirts of Playa Del Carmen. With a combination of trips and car hire we managed to see quite a lot of the area including venturing into the neighbouring province Quintana Roo. Our hotel was Iberostar Tucan and it really was very good. The food was excellent and the service as good as I have experienced anywhere in the world. The hotel has been very sympathetically 'woven' into the jungle and the planting was exquisite. More images of the hotel are shown in the link below but an for an example of the planting here is the restaurant.

The first two days were a bit disappointing as we managed to coincide with the tail end of hurricane 'Alex'. The palms trees on the beach had the classical shuttlecock appearance and going on the beach was a bit like being grit blasted. However the weather soon improved and we were soon out and about. Please visit the links below to see some of the highlights of our trip.
